As any Dutch speaking person would suspect, the name Heerenleed has a double meaning. Literally, the word means Gentlemen’s Suffering. You can read about the Gentlemen’s part in the dedicated page. The “suffering” part again has a double meaning. An ironic one, which we often hear in remarks of passers by like ”if that’s suffering I would love to join in..” and a literal part, consisting of the numerous jobs we were in for when we first bought Heerenleed. A large number has been taken care of, but we have not finished yet, and new problems keep presenting themselves. Beneath, you can read the long list of jobs that we have already done. Some are clickable to read a full description.
